Starting a new job is like very similar to dating a great new guy. The old job is like a bad abusive ex-boyfriend and when the new one starts giving love and treating you well, it’s a shock to the system. And you want to praise it for being so wonderful and amazing when that’s the way it should be.

I’ve been guilty of this reasoning for both men and jobs. I shouldn’t be amazed or praise them when this is supposed to be the general standard of respect. I’ve worked to get where I am in my career, as well as gaining back the confidence in my person life. So no more tongue-bathing of jobs and men that treat me well! That’s the standard and women should remember that.
